Unlike most years this year I was dragged out of bed around 7:30am to help with the after Thanksgiving Day sales. In previous years I was pulled out of bed between 4-5am depending on when the stores opened. This year I was thankful to get another hour or two of sleep and then get loaded up in the car for some massive shopping. Black Fridays mean that I don’t buy anything my parents do, and boy does that ever help when you’re low on money. My big purchace, a printer/scanner which should come in handy. I got that at Walmart for a mere $25. After Walmart we went on to Kmart which was packed, my sister won a bracelete in a raffle and I had to carry around pillows and wait in a line that backed up into the aisles. All of the registers were open too. We went a few more places that weren’t as packed thank goodness and now we’re back home…or at least my sister and I are. And I’m about to go brave the trafic again to find mat board…yes mat board. I have been hunting for this stuff for a while now but it’s nearly impossible to find any. One of my teachers wants 2 ply the other one doesn’t care how many ply as long as it’s mounted. Let me tell you this even online shopping is getting me nowhere because I need these by Wendsday if I’m going to get my projects done in time. And most places won’t ship until Monday. So off I go yet again.

80’s Shows revived…
November 23, 2009Now I won’t say I was around in the 80’s to see the shows like rainbow brite, strawberry shortcake, but when I was a kid I spent most of my time playing with strawberry shortcake and rainbow brite dolls. I even watched the shows, needless to say that I loved them. But now we have the new shows dirrected at tweens and honestly I think the toys are much more frightening than the old ones were.
These are the two I actually own or owned…depending on whether or not we sold them…of the rainbow brite series, the new ones look like this.
Didn’t the purple one have glasses? Is it just me or are we teaching children that it’s not ok to have glasses and that we should wear contacts to look “normal”? And wasn’t rainbow brite’s hair orange not blonde?

Cave Hollow Photography
November 16, 2009During the infamous mid-program review my teachers said that I need to shoot locally. In other words go out to the parks and learn how to shoot. Despite what they said 4 out of 6 teachers passed me though. Thank goodness. They also said to experiment with HDR. All the below images fit both their criteria. Next week is fall break therefore my images will be coming not from Cave Hollow, or Lions Lake, but from Powder Valley where I hope to catch a glimpse of deer. My parents said that they’re all over the place up there. Not that we don’t have deer around here, it’s just that they don’t come out till night and it’s nearly impossible to get a good shot.
Anyways enjoy.

Customizing my little pony?
November 7, 2009I never thought I would see this, but one of my friends started working on customizing my little ponies earlier this year, she does her ponies based off books but there are a few out there that I find pretty cool. Check it out.

Star Trails Film:
October 24, 2009So before I begin posting the photos from tonight I’m going to say that I’m going to be using my digital camera more because the lens on my film camera broke in half…I just went to pick the thing up and wham the top half of the lens was in my hand and the camera was in my other hand. I haven’t fixed it yet because the store is closed till Monday…and driving an hour both ways on a weekday doesn’t seem like a good idea since it’ll be through rush hour. I’ll get it fixed Monday if I can.
Anyways here’s some shots.

Night Photography in Color!
October 19, 2009I’ve finally learned how to use my D5o to it’s full potential. I figured out how to set it up to expose for at least 30 minutes. However I still need 1 ingrediant, a dark enough sky where no one has any crazy lights on. Tonight I went out to join my fellow photographers at Cave Hollow to do light painting. While I waited for them to arrive I shot photos of the sky. Unfourtunately it was really bright out because of a few baseball games going on at the park. But not to worry I got some great shots. So sit back and enjoy the fall colors and starry skies of Cave Hollow at night.
